Rhythm of Math, developed by Keith Terry and Linda Akiyama, engages students in learning grade-level concepts while analyzing , composing, and performing rhythms. You will learn about it by standing up and hitting yourself (but not too hard!).

After teaching math in private high schools for 32 years, I went to work at the Lawrence Hall of Science, UC Berkeley in 2007. I was Co-Director of the Bay Area Mathematics Project, which supports teachers of mathematics K-12, until Aug. 31, 2014. I am passionate about effective teaching of math, particularly for underserved communities. I also am in a performing American folk dance group and love gardening and walking.
